New Songs of The Strokes

By now you've probably read that the new fourth album, the Strokes', angles, and is fragmented has been absorbed by the friction Interband This is only half the story, however. The final product is impressive and provides evidence that the local quintet has by New Songs  far above the garage chic that his efforts will soon form. See our review of the record, and read a Q & A with Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture.

"... With the Internet and the influx of so much music, I think people judge so quickly. People are very careless to get music."

Where am I to get to you?
I'm in Las Vegas.

What is happening?
We do a show.

I heard the recording of this album has been fragmented, with New Songs  members that their contributions separately. You'll feel like you think of this way of working?
Well, I think it's a little 'misunderstood. We have to spend quite a lot 'of time writing the album together and work on design ideas and things back and forth. I think people focus on the fact that Julian was not there for much of the recording. But this was only for the time he was not there. was a different process that we had to adapt.

This is the first time, that others besides Julian contributed to writing?
I think, is yes, the first time significantly. There are Breakup Songs  other things  New Songs here and there. But this is the first situation extremely cooperative.

How does it work? Someone has to bring in a demo, and add other elements to it? Or did you really put the songs together in common?
We always had a collaborative way of billboard top 100 songs working on parts Julians. Long ago, has always had to carry melodies and guitar parts, and we would have built around them. We have in this format. Everyone has a different process. Someone could bring a small part or lead to a real demonstration of a part or an entire song. During the time of writing, as we were all together, is that if we can choose what works and what does not.

There are songs on the album that sound with the use of electronic drum machines and stuff like that. These were originally played with the full band in a rock vein?
There's a song that was pretty electronic so that a rock song is taken. And then little by little, became what he became. It 's like a long process. Things are changing. Things disappear and reappear. Cut them and take from it. It 'just a very long process. There's never a point where someone says: "We do a song or an electronic rock song." Over time, with the feeling of the album, other songs, and how it all works together, is slow, what it is.

Breakup Songs of The Strokes

Last week I interviewed Julian Casablancas and Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes few days in their North American tour. Tighter sound: The band that was once hailed as the saviors of rock recently released his third album First Impressions of Earth, a collection of garage-rock sound, the familiar sound of  billboard top 100 songs the band's Sonic presents improvements (dropped read, snappy text) .

During our chat, Julian opened, how do you feel about the band the success of his past drinking problem and married to an employee of the band. Apparently Julian's normally is not as immediately before, or even that talkative during the interview, so I feel pretty happy. The beginning is kinda weird because New Songs  you go into a shopping center, but caught in a Breakup Songs wind tunnel, so you hear nothing and almost hit by a car.

Me by Fab with part 2 soon.

Read below the Q & A or just the audio stream.

INTERVIEW Julian Casablancas

SomethingGlorious: You are in Atlanta - what are you doing?
Julian Casablancas: I'm on my way to the mall on foot. I love my shopping malls. And "the best. Normally you do not get into the city that you see and visit and not a taste of what happened. I like to walk around feeling and looking into the face of the people in this place. I use the car park  billboard top 100 songs entrance. It . was no wind and traffic I'm sorry you give me almost a second Now is a different kind of sound -.. echo the hissing sound of cars.

SG: Looking for something in particular in Breakup Songs  the mall?
JC: No, just around. Not even my wallet with me. I am thinking of buying the cookie lady in a box or something. A Wal-Mart, like you need a paper towel and buy a paintball gun.

SG: How many paintball guns you bought on a whim?
JC: I bought pellet guns, but has never had a gun.

SG: So grew up in New York, never you and your friends just randomly shot people with paintballs for fun?
JC: There are no shopping centers in New York. We hung out in parks and basketball courts. I could see the shopping center from my hotel - "?. Why did not Breakup Songs  I was going to   billboard top 100 songs walk," I could see Basement Filene and Dick's Sporting Goods and I thought

CELEBRATING THE STROKES IS THIS IT 10 YEARS ON

Ten years ago this weekend (July 30th) Is This It was officially released in Australia (it followed later in the UK and US), the media and fans of the band have been celebrating the record which fundamentally altered the landscape of guitar music at the time.

A Love Letter to Is This It – An excellent piece by an long-term fan.

Stereogum Presents… STROKED: A Tribute To Is This It. A somewhat mixed bag of cover versions by artists such as Peter Bjorn and John and Owen Pallet. Some are pretty good, some I would rather not hear again. My favourite is the lovely dreamy version ofBarely Legal by Real Estate. Avoid NYCC at all costs. Julian’s calls the covers ‘rad’
